The Department of Prakrit and Jain Studies was established 2022 with the objective of promoting the academic study of Prakrit languages, Jain philosophy, Agamic literature, and Indian knowledge traditions in accordance with UGC guidelines. The Department offers two full-time degree programmes: a three-year Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Prakrit and Jain Studies and a two-year Master of Arts (M.A.) in Prakrit and Jain Studies.
Both programmes are designed to provide a strong foundation in Jainism, Prakrit languages, Jain Agamas, philosophy, ethics, history, culture, and comparative religious studies. The curriculum emphasizes classical textual study along with critical analysis, research methodology, and contemporary relevance of Jain thought. The programmes are taught by experienced and well-qualified faculty members with proven expertise in Prakrit language, Jain studies.

The B.A. in Prakrit and Jain Studies programme offers students a solid foundation in language, literature, and philosophy, while developing essential skills such as reading, textual analysis, translation, academic writing, and critical thinking.

The M.A. in Prakrit and Jain Studies programme places special emphasis on advanced and in-depth study. It covers profound concepts of Jain philosophy, Āgamic and post-Āgamic literature, comparative philosophy, applied Jain studies, and the development of a research-oriented perspective

In this course, knowledge of Prakrit and history of Jainism is compiled along with Hindi, English. The curriculum includes Jainism, Agama Vidya and Literature, Indian Philosophy along with Sanskrit Grammar and Literature, Cosmology, Stotra Literature, Jain Philosophy, Jain Ethics, Knowledge of Arts in Jain Culture etc in three years.
